Cannabis Life Cycle

Cannabis can belong to any of a number of varieties which follow somewhat different growth patterns. The following diagram describes the most common form of growth. Differences between varieties can be seen as variations on this standard.

Cannabis is an annual plant. One full season of a generation, leaving all hope for the future of the seed. The normal life cycle follows the general pattern described below.

Cannabis Seed Germination:

With winter over, mix the moisture and hot spring activity in the embryo. The water is absorbed, and fetal tissues swell and grow, splitting the seed along its suture. The radical or embryonic root appears first. Once free of seeds, root growth leads to a decrease in response to gravity.
At the same time, the seed was removed the cells to grow upwards, which form the seedling stem. Now, anchored in the roots, and access to water and nutrients, embryonic leaves (cotyledons) unfold. They are a couple of small, somewhat ‘oval, simple leaves, now green chlorophyll to absorb the light of life. Germination is complete. Embryo has been reborn and is now a seedling living on the food it produces through photosynthesis. The process of germination is usually completed in three to 10 days.

Cannabis Seedlings:

The second pair of leaves begins the seedling stage. They are placed facing each other and generally have a single blade. They differ from embryonic leaves by their larger size, spearhead shape, and serrated edges. With the next pair of leaves appears, usually each leaf has three blades, and is even greater. A basic model has been set. Each new set of cannabis leaves will be larger with a larger number of blades per leaf until, depending on variety, they reach their maximum, often nine or 11 seedling stage is completed within four to six weeks.

Cannabis Vegetative Growth:

This is the life cycle of maximum growth of cannabis. The cannabis plant can grow faster than the rate that its leaves can produce energy for new growth. Each day more leaf tissue is created, increasing the overall capacity for growth. With excellent growing conditions, Cannabis has been known to grow six inches a day, even if the rate is usually one to two inches. The number of leaves on each leaf begins to decline in mid-stage plants. Then the arrangement of leaves on the stem (phyllotaxy) changes the face usually alternate. The internodes (stem space of a couple of leaves to the other, which was longer) begin to decline, and growth appears to be thicker. Branches which appeared in the axils of each set of leaves grow and shape the plant to its characteristic shape. The vegetative state is usually performed in the fifth third month of growth.
